New point calculation system
After 25 seasons with only minor changes to the ladder system, we have decided to give it a major overhaul. If you want to dig into it, take a look at the graphs below. The major change is that top players can lose more points playing bottom players, and bottom players risk less points playing top players. It is also potentially easier to get over 1000 points a season now.
x-axis = Point difference of the two players
y-axis = Points to win/lose
grey = old system
red = points+ for winner (upper graph) and loser- (lower graph) if the winner had more points than the loser before the game
green = points+ for winner (upper graph) and loser- (lower graph) if the loser had more points than the winner before the game
Reporting draws
Finally, you can report draws! The idea is that if you manage a draw against a higher ranked player, you will win some points, and the higher ranked player loses some points. The amount of points for a draw is the difference between the upper green and upper red graph in the diagram above.
Team points bonus
Now if that wasn't enough change already, we have also added a team bonus system which will give you additional points if you win against a better team. To accomplish this we have put all available teams into five different categories, category 1 having the best and category 5 having the worst teams. Each category has a point value assigned to it, and if you win with a team of a lower category, you will get the difference between the two category point values as bonus points.
Example: Chelsea 2:1 Valencia
Chelsea category: 1 => 24 points
Valencia category: 2 => 20 points
Better team won: No team bonus
Example: Togo 2:1 England
Togo category: 5 => 0 points
England category: 1 => 24 points
Bonus for player using Togo: 24-0 =
24 points
If you draw against a higher ranked player with a worse team, you gain half the team bonus you would get for a win using the same teams. The loser points remain unchanged regardless of what teams were used. Please do not fool your opponent by switching teams in the last possible second.
You can see the complete list of team categories on the
Categories page. On the site navigation you can find it as submenu under
Games.
Points calculator
If you're completely confused by now, don't worry - you can now simulate all possible game and team combinations with the new
Points Calculator page, which is a submenu under
Games as well. Play around with it as you like to see how many points to win or lose against certain players.
Season history
You can now browse the full standings for all past seasons and different ladder versions on the
Standings History page.
League shop
And here is what you always wanted - evo-league on your body, in your kitchen, in your bed, wherever you go! I've set up this little shop for anyone interested in having some evo stuff of the screen. The prices are set to the lowest amount possible, so I'm getting less than a Euro from every sold item. It's not meant to make money but as an offer to everyone who wants an evo shirt as badly as I do. You can go to the shop directly by
clicking here.
The link on the site is on the index page at the bottom, along with the new
Sitemap, a link to our Frappr! map and direct links to our RSS feeds. You'll find this 'box bottom' navigation on the goals page also for easier navigation, along with some minor layout tweaks here and there.
This is it, lots of new stuff this time. We hope the changes will work out fine, but we're not expecting them to be perfectly balanced already. As usual, your feedback is very welcome, please report any errors you may find, and of course we're always happy about a little
donation.
